This year, we began the tradition of the Elf on the Shelf. We have named our scout elf Iroh. We have begun using names from Avatar the Last Airbender for a lot of things. Chiara’s middle name is Yue, for the moon princess. Zuko, for the fire nation prince, is our dog’s name. Azula, the fire nation princess, is our kitten’s name. So we decided to use the name Iroh, the dragon of the west, for our elf.
The kids have been loving his antics!
So far he has arrived in his sleigh, pulled by ponies:
We used Chiara’s Anna sleigh and yarn to attach the ponies. I’ve enjoyed leaving little notes for the kids, explaining what he’s up to and commenting on their behavior the previous day.
He was caught dragon racing too. Of course he got stuck in the net. This was a little game that came with our Bluray How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Iroh had a snowball (marshmallow) fight with Jack Frost, Sven and a few minions.
This first aid practice was inspired when Chiara gashed her foot and had a mild panic attack when we bandaged it. This was easy and a big hit!
Iroh entertained a few of Chiara’s babies by reading The Polar Express. Apparently Iroh overheard me reading it to the kids.
A marshmallow soak is Iroh’s favorite way to wind down after a long round trip to the North Pole!
The storybook that came with Iroh is still unread, but I know it states he shouldn’t be touched. We overruled that rule because Chiara loves carrying him around so he can watch her be good. As long as she keeps being nice, I don’t see the problem!
I’ve decided to break my elf adventures into four posts, so look for them every six days!
Have you done anything fun with your elf?
